Many of you know my origin story but if you don’t - Sewrella exists because of my Grandmother Betty. She was the matriarch of my very large family and is still the shining example of kindness and grace to everyone who knew her. I knew she was special from a very young age: no matter who you were she would meet you at the screen door (usually with a cat alongside) and greet you with so much warmth. She was so funny and cute, she had blue eyes that I think literally sparkled! She was pure magic.
When I was in college, Grandmother Betty’s health was in decline. I went to visit her in the hospital and was struck by the hours and hours we sat around waiting for anything at all to happen. I’d never done that before. It made me anxious and sad and I wanted a way to be present while also busying myself. Knowing Grandmother Betty was a lifelong crafter (everything from needlepoint to sewing all of my Mom’s bridesmaid dresses!), I went to the craft store after the hospital one day. I wandered around looking for something to connect me to her… because she wasn’t really recognizing us anymore and I wasn’t ready to let go. I was interested in sewing but it wasn’t portable so I wound up in the yarn aisle. Although Betty never knit or crocheted, I found myself in love with all the colors and I brought home a ball of yarn and a crochet hook. I taught myself on YouTube and finished my first scarf as we said goodbye to Grandmother Betty 💕 That tiny moment… led to all of this.
I knew from the moment the Home project began, that I wanted to dedicate a colorway to her. I chose a deep rose pink color inspired by the Clinique lipstick she always wore, and I think it matches her personality so well - bold, soft, feminine, a little playful, and classic. Just like Betty 💕

I was a bit underwhelmed when I rec’d my shipment. With the description of this colorway, (and the pictures online) I expected a rosey, almost mauve medium pink, but Betty has more brown undertones IRL. Don’t get me wrong, I like the color, but it just isn’t what I expected. I’d say the pic that looks the most like it online is the last one, with the stacked skeins on the bookshelf.
I am in love with this kit. It was the perfect amount to make two single brim hats, one toddler size and one child size, with some suri lace leftover. My new favorite handmade gifts!
I picked up a few minis from the holiday market for a Kintra sweater. The colours are so lovely and vibrant, and the yarn is so soft! Can’t wait to knit it up!
Novel is the most beautiful, rich brown. Home is so luxurious to knit with, incredibly soft with lovely stitch definition.
The Manhattan Hat Kit is absolutely perfect! I made the Adult Medium size and had plenty of Suri lace leftover to make a second hat. The hat feels so luxurious and will be worn for years to come. I cannot wait to make another!
I love this yarn as it flows through the needles. Love Letter is the main color of my Stripe Hype sweater and it shows off the contrasting colors beautifully.
This was a gift to my niece and she loved it. I have the needles and the quality is worth it. The neutral colour is pleasing to look at as well.
Perfect color and feel for the best day of watching a pattern take shape
