In the 90s there was no streaming or on demand listening… unless you made your own or bought entire albums from one artist. Playlists didn’t exist yet and you had to pay for each individual piece of music. So when you had the ability to create a mixtape, it felt extra special 💿

Listening to popular music of the 90s, the hit radio stations played everything from pop to reggae, hip hop and grunge. Nirvana played back to back with Missy Elliot and was followed by Faith Hill and Santana. The range in styles made for really interesting exposure and it taught me to appreciate everything.

This mix of styles led us to create a colorway for Mixtapes that felt funky and a little unexpected - a rich vibrant orange that could have been pulled directly from a 90s music video set 🎶
